The key tables of a forecast
A complete financial forecast is built around a few tables that respond to one another:
- The forecast income statement: revenue, costs and profit over several years.
- The financing plan: start-up needs and resources (own funds, loans, grants).
- The cash-flow plan: inflows and outflows month by month, to avoid running out of cash.
- The break-even point: the activity level at which you cover your costs.
These tables must be consistent with one another: an optimistic revenue figure must rest on the market study, not on a wish.
